KNBR

Borrowing from Archie's blog - 2 disclaimers:

1. Girls aren't gonna care about this post
2. Guys probably won't either, but I'm proud of it so I'm gonna share anyway

baaaaaaaaaaaaah

This morning on my way to work I was listening to the Murph and Mac show on KNBR sports talk radio (guaranteed all females stopped reading already). Anyway hella people were calling in and talking about how Alex Smith never got a fair chance to compete for the starting QB job because he never got to play with the first team during the preseason or at practices.

(Arch, just in case, this is about the 49ers QB competition. baaaaaaah)

Anyway, I tried calling in just for the funnies and some guy picked up, asked where I was from and what I wanted to talk about. Then he said alright, hold on a sec and we'll try to get you on. I was thinking "Oh shit! really?"

So I keep listening and they just kept taking hella phone calls. I started getting hella nervous for some reason!! Then Pauley Mac goes "Let's go ahead and take one more phone call before we get a check on traffic. How bout uhhhhh...(heartbeats)....Brian from Union City. You're on the air...how's it going?" (Nerves, and MAJOR holding in of giggles)

This is what I remember though:

"I just wanted to comment on what the last few callers were saying. I'm sick and tired of hearing this argument that Alex Smith has never gotten a fair chance at the starting job! In every pre-season game so far he's hand several open receivers and he couldn't get them the ball. In the game against the Bears he underthrew Vernon Davis by about 5 yards. He did that in a previous game too, and overthrew a wide open receiver in the back of the end zone. And he always walks to the sideline with his head down! On TV they even showed Coach Nolan on the sideline rubbing his eyes with his head down after he made a horrible pass. If you can't get the ball to an open man, you don't deserve to start, regardless of whether or not you've been playing with the first team!"

Mac: "Well, I can't argue with anything you're saying. The only thing I can say is that he hasn't had a chance to throw to Isaac Bruce yet. But other than that you're right. He's thrown some really bad balls. Thanks for calling in! Let's take a look at the traffic."

annnnnnnnd.....release giggles.

KNBR......theeeeeeeeeeee Sports Leader.
